HP acquires Aruba Networks

Hewlett-Packard announced on Monday to acquire Aruba Networks, Wi-Fi access equpipment for businesses maker, for about $ 3 Billion. It’s biggest deal of HP during in last three years and first major transaction after split of company.

 Under the terms of deal, HP will pay $24.67 in cash. It’s 34 percent premium to Aruba’s closing price on February 24.

 Aruba Networks specializes in wireless networking access point hardware and software, which are used by universities, hotels and shopping malls.

 ”Enterprises are facing a mobile-first world and are looking for solutions that help them transition legacy investments to the new style of I.T.,” Meg Whitman, chairman and CEO of Hawlett Pacakrd, said in a statement. “By combining Aruba’s world-class wireless mobility solutions with HP’s leading switching portfolio, HP will offer the simplest, most secure networking solutions to help enterprises easily deploy next-generation mobile networks.”

 Aruba will continue to do business under own brand and its current chief executive Dominic Orr, who will be report to the head of HP enterprise group, Antonio Neri.

 The deal is expected to close by Oct. 31 after regulators and Aruba’s shareholders approval.

 Mr. Satkebay says:

 This acquisition helps HP to increase networking business through tablets, smartphones and other connected devices. HP expects improve its earnings in the first full year.
